The Ultimate Runway Parade
Hong Kong Fashion Week is the place to be seen exhibiting your fall/winter collections. This long-established event just keeps on growing, attracting the right kind of buyers for your fashion business.
Booming Business
One of the foundations of Hong Kong Fashion Week's success is the city's position as one of the world's leading garment exporters. This is a business that keeps on growing. In 2004, Hong Kong's companies registered 6% and 12% growth in the export of clothing and clothing accessories to its top two markets of the US and the EU respectively. These impressive figures are set to increase further, with the consensus being that the market outlook will improve over the year ahead. Against this optimistic backdrop, it's no wonder that 11% more exhibitors decided to take part in the 2005 event than were at the 2004 fall/winter show, taking total exhibitor numbers to 1,087.
China Partnership
Industry players in the Chinese mainland market are looking forward to boom times, and Hong Kong is the ideal conduit for people wishing to take advantage of these growth opportunities. There are now even more good reasons for working with Hong Kong companies to get a foothold into this exciting market opportunity. With expansion of the Closer Economic Partnership Arrangement (CEPA) between Hong Kong and the Chinese mainland, yet more garment products have been added to the list of items to enjoy zero tariffs.
Perfect Pair
Taking place at the same time as Hong Kong Fashion Week for Fall/Winter 2006 is World Boutique, Hong Kong, a showcase for designers and brands that is unique to Asia. This event showcases fashion designers's collections, branded fashion products, fashion accessories, home products and small gifts. The stylish synergy provided by the two fairs has proved to be a great hit with visitors, attracting over 40,800 buyers in 2005 - 20% more than in the preceding year.
Attracting Buyers
The Hong Kong Trade Development Council will direct optimal and extensive publicity for Hong Kong Fashion Week for Fall/Winter 2006. Extensive worldwide publicity campaigns including global advertising campaigns and direct marketing will work towards targeting the right buyers for this special event. Using the resources of its worldwide network of offices and contacts, the HKTDC will make this coverage international, and will put together buying missions from many key countries and regions.

Buyers' Comments
Bolero Company of Poland runs a network of 20 women's clothing stores, as well as operating its own garment factory."I'm looking mainly for sweaters, which must be of top quality in terms of design and manufacture, with sophisticated styling. I have already seen pieces that I like, and have even placed a number of orders - and this on just the first day of the fair." Wojciech Bober, President, Bolero Company, Poland
Productivity Council of Tianjin Textile Industry formed a group of 57 people from 44 manufacturing, retailing and sales companies from Tianjin, China to visit Hong Kong Fashion Week and World Boutique.
"Some company representatives have purchased lovely denimwear and knitwear, and sales agents in the group are currently talking to a casualwear fashion distributor. This is an excellent fair, and we will be drawing some lessons from it. All services have been beyond what we expected. The exhibition halls are the best we have ever seen. We'll definitely be back!"
