The accession to World Trade Organization stimulates the growth of garment export due to the abolishment of quota to the U.S. In 2006, Vietnamese textile apparel export gained 5.8 billion USD. This number for 2007 is estimated to be 7.3 billion USD. simultaneously simultaneously Simultaneously the corresponding high increases of import demand shows the fact that the main garment export performance was made on a processing base which utilized imported material and accessories. In this situation, local textile and garment businesses is encouraged to increase percentage of the domestically produced items and added values in export products. Three important projects were launched in the Pho Noi B Textile and Garment Industrial Zone, northern Hung Yen province, on Feb. 5.2007. These projects include a knitting centre, a thread factory and a waste water treatment centre with a total investment capital of more than 282 billion VND. Vinatex has recently invested in a number of advanced production lines namely high quality fiber making line for thread making at Phong Phu Textile & Garment factory, high quality suit production line at Nha be Garment factory, Viet Tien Factory etc.  All of these are calling for new textile and garment equipment and technologies.
