The EU has decided not to increase the exceptional flexibility quota to Pakistani textile exporters this year, marking the end of a long-running dispute.
A Commerce Ministry official in Pakistan said the EU was not obliged to agree to Pakistan’s wish for flexible quotas. The total exceptional flexibility quota for Pakistan in the textile sector is currently 4,000 tonnes.
The EU has allegedly frozen the exceptional flexibility quota after Pakistan International Airliners (PIA) struck deals with Boeing in the US, rather than the EU’s Airbus.
