Russia : MEXA Is Advancing To Become A Prestige Fair

On October 17 the MEXA 2002 opened already for the 8th time. As usual the fair was organized in hall 3 of the fairgrounds "Krasnaya Presnya". This year the demand for exhibition space could only be satisfied by the additional renting of the Blue Hall. With a space of 4,900 sqm the fair was completely booked.

143 exhibitors from 23 countries showed their competitiveness. Almost all international enterprises, which are well-known in the fur industry were present. This is proof of the fact that the MEXA has become more and more a prestige fair.

This year the share of the international exhibitor (88) surpassed the number of the domestic suppliers (55). The supported German national stand with 16 exhibitors is already established at the MEXA. For the first time at the fair there was a joint company stand of 6 Finish enterprises, which was organized by the company Finpro.

The Italian exhibitors, which were the largest group among the international participants with 22 companies, were very satisfied with the exhibition business. Numerous exhibitors came also from Greece and Turkey this year. This emphasizes the importance of the Russian fur market.

More than 27,500 visitors informed themselves during the four exhibition days about noble furs, fashionable fur clothing, technical equipment and chemical products for the fur processing and the fur care.

In the evening of the opening day of the MEXA the Russian Fur Association invited to a fashion show of well-known Russian fur companies and designers to the "New Opera". An appealing choreography, stage effects and not least the appearance of a singer rounded off the event.

A further highlight formed the gala show of the famous Russian fur designer "Irina Krutikova". The fashion show gave a fantastic insight in the Russian fur fashion and was met with enthusiastic approval of the audience.

The expectations of the exhibitors concerning the trade fair MEXA 2002 were again exceeded. They were able to have many successful talks and could establish new contacts. Therefore they are expecting a lively after-fair business. The majority of the exhibitors have already again booked their participation in the MEXA 2003.
