Italy : Final Press Release For The 40th Moda In

2003-9-22

This 40th Moda In tessuto & accessori closed yesterday with the rosiest outlook.

With 19,637 visitors, the exhibition maintained the same level as the last 2003 spring session, with a slight 1.18% decrease over the 2002 autumn session.

There were 16,093 visitors from Italy and 3,544 from abroad. Moda In reconfirms its main role as a the topmost event for the entire Italian textile-clothing sector. The figures reflect the renewed presence and high-calibre level of the Italian trade (+5% compared to September 2002) overshadowing visitors from Europe and overseas with the exception of France (+18,85 over September 2002).

The comments were positive from the 426 companies that presented their collections for the 2004/2005 autumn-winter season: successful contacts in terms of quality and number of signed orders.

“We are satisfied with the level of the trade visiting this 40th Moda In – states Max Dubini, S.I.TEX President – above all if we consider the continuing economic crises that has been impacting the textile-clothing industry for more than 2 years.

The companies I could visit personally during these days were pleased with their successful results which, for some of them, even exceeded expectations”.

The exhibition project designed for the Area Immagine and positioned at the entrance has definitely helped visitors streamline their visits.

Large numbers of Italian and foreign visitors stopped inside the area dedicated to the “Fabric in Fashion” exhibition which has been held for the second time and organised with the support of the Milan City Council. This particular exhibition has gained the approval of top Fashion Houses which participated bringing their garments produced with the textiles and accessories of the exhibitors to the 38th Moda In.

Positive comments also on the side events and initiatives: visitors showed a great deal of interest in the display of antique buttons and buckles, some of them dating back to the 3rd century B.C. and presented for the first time to the public.

Max Dubini, at the closing of the exhibition announced: “The climate we perceived during these days makes us optimistic about the future. Let’s hope that as of next year we can succeed in streamlining all Italian textile exhibitions in order to present the national and international market with the best of the Made in Europe textiles in one week only.
