4 More US Bound Textile And Garment Visas Grant Suspended

Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Trade Mai Van Dau signed document No 3919/TM-XNK announcing the suspension of US-bound textile and garment visas grant to cat.351/651, cat 638/639 and cat 647/648 as from October 6, 2003.

This announcement stemed from a mismatch between the actual ficgure recorded by US customs’ statistics by September 25 and the amount displayed through export certificates and visas granted from Vietnam up to September 27.

In details, cat 447 and cat 638/639 ‘s imports into US are 88.54%% and 87.14%% respectively while the Ministry of Trade’s E/C and visas granted up to the same moment only reached 56.91%% and 71.1%%.

Thus within a week, there have been 6 textile and garment cats seen visa granting suspension due to the above-mentioned reason. The Ministry of Trade is actively cooperating with US customs to find out fraud shipments to have timely treatments.
