Local Cotton Price Inline With International Price

China''s price of cotton has brought in line with that in international market basically, according to market monitor.

In the initial stage of last year''s cotton market, domestic price of cotton has fluctuated basically around RMB 10,100 per ton, less than import cost. After Spring Festival, the price has increased rapidly. In most of this period, domestic cotton price is higher than import cost. Because of lower purchasing price, cotton in 2002 has been sold according to the price over cost.

Now, China''s cotton supply is stable. To suit high-speed development of textile industry and increasing of cotton demand, China has adopted many measures to ensure the supply. China''s output of cotton in 2002 is 4.92 million tons, which has ensured the demand.
