FTA- talks on between Malaysia, Japan |

The fourth round talks on Free trade Agreement talks between Japan and Malaysia have begun.
The two countries are to propose a list of goods, services and investment to be liberalised under an accord according to a Japanese trade ministry official.
Japan is expected to call on Malaysia to improve the business environment for foreign investors, while seeking to abolish tariffs on cars, textiles and electronic imports.
Malaysia on its part is likely to urge Japan to lift trade barriers on farm product imports and to seek increased support for its efforts to develop its science and technology base.
The first round of talks between the two countries was held at Kuala Lumpur in January this year and both the countries are aiming to reach a final agreement by the end of this year.
Japan signed its first FTA with Singapore in 2002 and is also in talks with the Philippines, South Korea and Thailand. | |
