The biggest supermarket chain Tesco announced moving 420 jobs to Bangalore, India, from three centres in the UK.
The jobs being moved out of offices in Cardiff, Dundee and Welwyn Garden City belong to the business support area. Tesco informed that its UK employees would be offered new jobs within Tesco, if they were flexible.
"Everybody will be offered an alternative role at Tesco. Last year we had 350 roles that were moved and 70 percent of the staff that were affected took up alternative positions at Tesco," a spokeswoman said.
In recent years, major companies and banks like HSBC and BT Group have moved jobs to India. All because India has a relatively inexpensive, skilled English-speaking work force which leads to cutting costs here. |
