US retailers Thursday reported disappointing February sales, partly due to war threats and rising unemployment in the United States. For its part, Gap Inc. confirmed its dramatic recevery, however.
A large series of US retailers reported a decrease in comparable store sales in February. Even discounters suffered from the decline in consumption in the United States.
Target said that same-store sales were down 1.4 percent, lower than expected by US financial analysts. Kohl's Corp announced a 4.6 percent decrease in comparable sales.
Wal-Mart reported a slight rise in same-store sales, lower than its previously announced target.
