India : CSO releases index of Industrial Production |

The Central Statistical Organisation has released the Quick Estimates (QE) of Index of Industrial Production (IIP) with base 1993-94 for the month of June 2004. The General Index stands at 190.2, which is higher by 7.3% as compared to the level in the month of June 2003.
The index for cotton textiles stood at 125.2 up with 10.6 percent growth. The index stood at for wool, silk and man-made textiles down -10.3 percent in June 2004.
However for the period April-June 2004-5, the percent growth for cotton textiles and wool –silk-man-made textiles stood at 9.7 and 17.7 percent respectively.
Textile products including wearing apparels index was up at 195.9 from 183.5 last year while percentage growth for June this year stood at 6.8 percent.
Leather and Fur products index was down 149.2 down from 153.3 last year and in percent terms it stood at –2.7 percent for June 2004. The April –June 2004-5 period showed 5.7 percent growth however, reports the QE.
