The Wool mark company sponsored Textprint annual weave prize winners will be presented at Premiere Vision this month.
Nicolas Chambeyron, consultant designer for Christian Dior picked the prize winners.
Bonnie Kirkwood (BA) from Winchester School of Art has been declared the winner.
Speaking about Bonnie''s creation, Nicolas stated that it had a good mix of inspiration with perfect quality and very refined. The prize will provide unique opportunity for Bonnie to work with the world''s best designers.
Inspired by multi-layered effects derived from distorted reflections in architecture, Bonnie''s womenswear collection used a combination of dobby and jacquard weaving to create a contrast of weight, scale and proportion.
Nicolas is currently with Christian Dior fashion house working with John Galliano for the past eight years and is responsible for the sourcing and positioning of embroideries in its ready-to-wear and haute couture collections.
Commenting on the works Nicolas said, "I was impressed by the quality; for graduates it''s wonderful work".
The Texprint Design Awards feature fresh talent from among the growing breed of designers and links presents them to the industry.
The five special prizewinners in particular categories, including the weave prize, will go on to exhibit at the Designers Gallery Interstoff Asia in Hong Kong, October 6-8.
The Esquel Group of Companies will sponsor a day visit from HK to its operations in China for the winners as a bonus. |
