Australia:Wool exports to China up

China’s import of Australian raw and semi-processed wool exports increased 71 per cent in August compared to the same time last year. In a report, The Woolmark Company says Australian exports for the past eight months are up by about 40 per cent. Elders Wool marketing manager Maurie McNeil says there are several reasons for the rise. "It''s been helped by an improvement of domestic consumption there at retail, also mills there are replenishing ... very, very low stocks," he said. "Preparation for the removal of the textile and trading quotas for both the US and the EU, which is due on the first of January 2005."
