At the seminar entitled ''Challenge and opportunity of garment-textile and footwear industries in international integration process'' held at HCMC Investment and Trade Promotion Centre (TPC), Reg Leenes, senior expert of the Netherlands’ Centre for the Promotion of Exports from Developing Countries (CBI) said that Vietnamese apparel and footwear businesses have not successfully chosen markets into which they can penetrate.
Leenes added Vietnamese enterprises who have exported a great deal of goods into the EU have still failed to know culture, taste and consumption tendency of EU customers.
Competition facing Vietnamese companies will become fiercer next year given the fact that CBI considers China, Turkey, India and Romania as potential and competitive in terms of price and geographical distance, warns Leenes.
Vietnam apparel and footwear industries shortcoming lie in material source, design and trade mark-prestige building, highlights Leenes. |
