Switzerland:Asians fear EU anti-dumping escalation |

Major trading partners led by China, India and Hong Kong have voiced fears in a World Trade Organization forum that the European Union might resort to increased use of trade remedies, such as anti-dumping measures against imports of textiles and apparel, with the end of quotas.
The EU is the world''s largest importer of textiles and apparel, the largest exporter of textile goods and the second largest apparel exporter.
According to the WTO, EU textiles and apparel imports reached 71.6 billion euros, or about $91 billion, and exports hit 43.8 billion euros, or about $55.7 billion, in 2002.
During a two-day review of the EU’s trade regime, China’s WTO ambassador, Sun Zhenu, said the EU was a ‘major’ player in the use of trade remedy measures, including anti-dumping.
Sun further added that during the period 1991 to 2003, China was the target for 16.7 percent of the measures imposed.
