China:Consumer confidence index shows steady recovery in Sept. – NBS reports |

The national consumer confidence index was recovered by 1.2 points in September over 90.1 points June, reaching 91.3 points, says the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).
The expectance index reflecting the economic outlook in the next few months was promoted to 90.1 points in September from 88.7 points in June. In September, 68% of consumers regarded China''s overall economic performance to be good in 2004, and 57% regarded that the macroeconomy would make for continuous prosperity; the proportion of people who expected a better economic income was promoted to 42% in September from 39% in June, while that of people who expected a worse economic income dropped from 31% to 27%.
The consumer satisfaction index was recovered to 93.2 points in September from 92.2 points in June. In September, 69% of consumers regarded that their economical income now was better than that of the last quarter, up by 5% over that in June, while the proportion of consumers who regarded that the economic income this quarter was worse than that of the last quarter dropped from 25% in June to 23% in September.
Along with the promotion of satisfaction degree towards the income, the degree of satisfaction towards current price of commodities somewhat dropped. In September, 53% and 14% of consumers thought it was a right time for purchasing hard goods and automobiles, down by 3% and 4% respectively over that in June.
