The Japan Quality Assurance Organization (JQA) has awarded NEC Personal Products ISO 14001-certification to all its 39 domestic facilities, including for its main office and 34 sales offices.
Design and manufacture of PCs and peripherals, which comply with Eco Symbol, NEC''''''''s unique certifying label given to the products satisfying the industry''''''''s severest environmental criteria, as well as the provision of information on such products, are among the main activities of the company. In a bid to attain effective use of natural resources and reduce environmental load, the company also sells recycled PCs.
The NEC subsidiary also handles more than half of the user inquiries about their PC problems through its phone counseling service, which helps eliminate necessity to transport repair tools and kits thus reducing the cost of packing materials.
The company has been offering its 1,400 employees, including the main office staff and sales staff, online education about environmental knowledge since May 2004. |
