Chile:Furniture and Textile Sales top manufacturing output in October |

October this year, recorded the highest rise since 1996, after furniture and textiles sales steeply rose, at home and overseas.
Up 5.2 percent from last year’s manufacturing output, the state-run National Statistics Institute said in Santiago said sales went up 4 percent, a 24th month of expansion.
“There''s more activity, more shipments,'''' said Cristian Vergara, export manager at Wenco SA, a maker of plastic crates and furniture in Santiago. ``We have more machines and more people working.''''
Wenco manufactures specialized shipping crates used by Chilean grape exporters and is packing up more lawn furniture for shipment to the U.S. and Latin America the regional economies have shown and upward growth. Vergara expects Wenco''s exports to rise by a quarter this year to $4 million and to grow by another 10 percent next year. |
