Bangladesh:China, Taiwan, European and ME countries seeking opportunities to invest in textiles sector |

China, Taiwan, and some European and Middle Eastern countries have shown keen interest to invest in the textiles sector in Bangladesh, informed Textiles and Jute Minister Shahjahan Siraj today.
Speaking at the inauguration of the ultra modern National Textiles Design, Training and Research Centre (NTDTRC) built at a cost of Taka 27 crore to provide spinning, weaving, dyeing, printing and finishing training for the students, he said the demand for textiles in the garment industries would be met which will create huge employment opportunities by setting up the proposed textiles industries in Bangladesh.
"The textiles sector is a potential sector in Bangladesh, as there is no alternative to set up new backward linkage industries for survival of garment industries in the context of MFA," Siraj said.
Among the dignitaries present were Whip Shaheedul Haque Jamal, Member of the BNP Central Executive Committee Begum Rabiya Siraj and Chairman of the Bangladesh Textiles Mills Corporation (BTMC) Brig Gen (retd) Anwar Hossain Chowdhury.
The minister emphaiszed on raising the infrastructure including settin up facilities for vocational and training institutions for generating skilled manpower for the textiles sector within the country. |
