India:SIMA mills report production and export growth |

According to production analysis, all India spun yarn production registered an increase by nine per cent, during the first six months of the current fiscal, and it rose by 12.2 per cent at South Indian mills Southern India Mills'' Association (SIMA) reported.
All India spun yarn production stood at 1608.09 million kgs during the first half of 2004-05 compared to 1475.51 million kgs during Apr-Sept last year.
SIMA member mill’s production stood at 218.06 million kgs during Apr-Sept 2004, as against 194.41 mn kgs during the corresponding period last year, it said.
In the fibre wise production, cotton yarn, 100 per cent non-cotton yarn and blended yarn were high by 10.7, 38.8 and 14.1 per cent respectively, during the period.
Out of 160 member mills, restricted to data availability, as much as 120 mills reported higher production during Apr-Sep 2004, SIMA said.
Member mills’ cotton yarn production by stood at 183.21 mn kgs compared to 165.56 mn kgs during corresponding period last year, 100 per cent non-cotton yarn rose to 10.87 mn from 7.83 mn kgs and blended yarn to 23.98 mn kg from 21.02 mn kg.
Cotton yarn exports by reporting member mills during the period stood higher at 45.42 mn kgs as against 40.61 mn kg during the corresponding period last year, a growth of 11.8 per cent, SIMA informed. |
