USA:Sanctions on Chinese textile imports

Signing two separate decrees, the Argentine President Nestor Kirchner placed import restrictions on Chinese textile by imposing quotas on the textile and ready-made garments products, the government announced Thursday. Effective from Jan. 1, 2005, the two decrees regulate imports of Chinese textile and ready-made garments products not to exceed 7.5 percent and 6 percent of the total imports of similar products in the previous year. With high tariffs in place Chinese textile imports will not be able to make it to the Argentine market. The new decrees will expand such restrictions as may be felt by the government even as the sanction details for the existing were expected shortly.
