The textile industry in Chaoyang City in south China's Guangdong province generated a total output value of 11.246 billion yuan (about 1.35 billion US dollars) in 2002, an increase of 91.01 percent over the previous year.
Last year, the city's textile mills produced 1.45 billion meters of fabric, while its clothing factories produced 1.68 billion articles of clothing.
The city now has a total of 1,756 textile mills and clothing factories, of which more than 100 have capital of about 10 million yuan.
A systematic production chain, which includes weaving, dyeing and tailoring, has been developed, and a wide variety of textile products has been exported to over 20 countries. (Xinhuanet
