Germany:Degussa lays corner stone in Shanghai

The Coatings & Colorants Business Unit of Degussa AG marked the start of construction of two new plants with the laying of a corner stone at the Degussa multi-user site in Shanghai in December 2004. The plant for manufacturing colorants and a production plant for polyesters are expected to service customers in the rapidly expanding Chinese market from late 2005 onward.
Through these state-of-the-art investments, Degussa will provide Chinese manufacturers of coatings and colorants with high-quality products and solutions locally. With this development, the Coatings & Colorants Business Unit affirms its confidence in the dynamic growth of the Chinese market while honoring its own commitment to support its customers all over the world.
The new multi-user site is located in SCIP, on the southern outskirts of the city. The investments are pooled in Degussa Specialty Chemicals (Shanghai), a subsidiary of Degussa''s Chinese holding, Degussa (China) Co., Ltd. The polyesters and colorants plants of the Coatings & Colorants Business Unit are the first projects at this site.
The DYNAPOL coating polyesters of the Polyesters Business Line are used mainly in hard, but also in flexible, coil and can coating systems. Light- and weather-resistant coil coatings are obtained when polyesters are combined with blocked single-component polyester PUR systems (VESTICOAT).
For the adhesives industry, the business line offers as raw materials DYNACOLL copolyesters for moisture-curing systems and the DYNAPOL S adhesive polyesters.
For both in-plant and point-of-sale tinting, the Colorants Business Line produces and develops high-quality colorants and color systems for the coatings colorants, and related industries. For the decorative coatings market, colorants with the COLORTREND brand name represent an international standard for point-of-sale tinting at the retail store, while CHROMA-CHEM colorants occupy a similar position for the industrial market. |
