Today''s extraordinary session of the Cabinet of Ukraine approved a bill that provides for the reduction of duties for clothes, footwear and food products by 100 times. Yuliya Timoshenko, the Prime Minister of Ukraine, made the statement.
"We approved a bill that substantially reduces duties,” she said. She noted that the most substantial reduction will concern footwear, clothes and linen. She assured that the reduction of duties would not prevent smuggling, but bring down prices in consumer''s market.
According to her, if the earlier rate of duty for some goods stood between 100-300%, it will now come down to between 10-12% for some goods, otherwise, generally - 2-3% for most of the items.
"We took the measures for the entry into WTO," informed Timoshenko.
She noted that the Cabinet will propose the Parliament to approve the bill as early as it was possible. |
