Polyester staple fibres from China and Saudi Arabia are likely to attract antidumping duities from The European Commission (EC).
As regards South Korea, it has also proposed extending (at a lower level) duties imposed in 2000 and scrapping 13% duties levied since 1999 on Taiwanese exporters, who are now dumping at very low levels, the Commission informs.
The EU noted that dumping from the other countries had led to production drop in EU countries by 5% and sales volumes by 6% from 2000-2003.
Subject to the EU Council of Minister’s approval, the proposal suggests stiff antidumping duties on the Chinese at 80.2%, although six companies cooperating with the Commission inquiry will pay less.
South Korean exporters will find a drop from 20.2% to 10.6%, with six cooperating companies paying 6% and one - Sung Lim Co. Ltd., of Seoul - being exempt on the antidumping front. |
