With effect from March 1st, 2005, BASF increases its prices for caprolactam as well as for polyamide 6 extrusion and spinning grades by € 100 - 150 per metric ton, depending on the specific segment.
This measure has been rendered necessary by the strong erosion of margins, caused by the sharply increasing prices for feedstock since the beginning of January 2005.
The extrusion and spinning grades in BASF’s polyamide portfolio – tradenames Ultramid and Capron - are used for the production of food packaging films and for fibres. Caprolactam is the basic feedstock in the manufacture of polyamide 6.
In another release, effective March 15th, BASF will increase the prices for its range of styrene copolymer specialties in Europe.
The prices for Luran S, Terlux, Terblend N and the Terluran High Heat grades will be increased by 200 € per metric ton each. This measure is due to the still worsening margin situation.
The styrene copolymer specialties Luran S, Terlux, Terblend N and Terluran High Heat provide solutions to problems in technically exacting applications in the automotive, electronics and communication technology, in construction and solar technology, in office, household, sport and leisure. |
