World’s largest maker of unsaturated polyester resins Reichhold, announced a price increase today of $ 0.15 per pound on all vinyl ester resins sold in the United States and Canada, effective for orders shipped on or after April 6.
This increase supplants the $.04 per pound price for unsaturated polyester resins which takes effect March 21. That earlier increase on polyesters will not apply to vinyl ester resins from Reichhold.
"Sharp increases in the cost for raw materials such as liquid epoxy resin which go into our vinyl ester products have made this increase necessary," said Bill Schramm, North American business director for Reichhold''s composites business. "Some suppliers have placed liquid epoxies on allocation, due to high demand, further driving up costs.
"Increases in the costs of these and other raw materials such as styrene are being driven by a wide variety of feedstocks," Schramm continued.
"Reichhold works continuously to improve the products and services the company provides to the composites industry," Schramm said. "It is always our goal to foster innovation and improve both quality and value. We thank our customers for their patience as the entire industry must confront the challenges posed by escalating raw material costs," he concluded.
Founded in 1927, Reichhold, with its world headquarters and technology center in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina, USA, is together with its parent, Dainippon Ink & Chemicals, the world’s largest manufacturer of unsaturated polyester resins and a leading supplier of coating resins for the industrial, transportation, building and construction, marine, consumer and graphic arts markets. Reichhold has manufacturing operations throughout North America, Latin America, the Middle East and Europe. |
