Germany:Bavarian Police to continue contract with Lion Apparel

2005-4-4

Leading Uniform maker Lion Apparel Inc, announces the signing of a Lion Totalcare agreement in Bamberg, Germany, January 25, 2005 that continues Lion Apparel Deutschland''s (LAD) four year relationship with the German State of Bavaria''s police and judicial officers. LAD will continue supplying uniforms to the Bavaria''s police and judicial officers for the next eight years.

LAD, with its headquarters in Zwenkau near Leipzig, has been outfitting Bavaria''s police and judicial officers with service clothing since 2001. In anticipation of the expiration of the agreement in 2005, the Ministry of the Interior gave early authorization to the Headquarters of the Bavarian Mobile Police in Bamberg to launch and carry through the tendering process throughout the European Union.

Lion Apparel came out on top over other competitors and was awarded the contract. Tendering preparations were undertaken under the auspices of the Headquarters of the Bavarian Mobile Police in Bamberg. Their textile experts set out the material specifications for the clothing as a basis for the call for tenders. Moreover, after the contract is awarded to a firm, they generally monitor the quality of the service clothing before it is delivered. The police headquarters at Bamberg shall therefore act as the monitor and the contact for all the police forces in Bavaria in regards to any questions pertaining to uniforms.

In the presence of representatives from the Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry of Justice, the staff association and the police union, Police Superintendent Spörl and the managers of Lion Apparel Deutschland, Bruno Bröking and Timo Czech signed an eight-year contract. The president and chief operating officer of Lion, Steve Schwartz, even made a special point of coming from the United States for the signing.

Lion Apparel will be supplying all of the service apparel for 27,000 Bavarian law enforcement officers and 5,000 judicial officers for the next eight years. The product line includes everything from socks and uniforms to the all-weather jacket - everything that a police or judicial officer is permitted to wear. Bavarian police officers may only wear what is prescribed by the state. Uniformity and consistency in the appearance of service clothing shall continue to be maintained in Bavaria.

Lion Apparel Inc is a 106-year-old, privately held, global company based in Dayton, Ohio. Through offices in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy and Australia, Lion Apparel serves the uniform and personal protective equipment (PPE) and logistics requirements of police and fire departments, civilian government agencies, emergency services and military organizations around the world.
