India:State Govt revises wool procurement rates

Specifying the revised rates for procurement of Wool from the far-fling areas as fixed by Minister for Agriculture, who is also Chairman and Wool Board, a meeting to review the arrangement for procurement was held by Jammu and Kashmir Sheep and Sheep Products Development Board.

Secretary Animal and Sheep Husbandry presided over the meeting.

The meeting detailed about the revised approved rates for per kg of wool of various varieties. The white comb XBBCC has been approved at Rs. 46 per kg while white card XBBCC was revised at Rs. 38.

The revised rate of CDX quality wool was fixed at Rs 33 per kg, Rs. 29 for Xbred L.P. Comb, Rs. 16 L.P.Card, Rs. 22 for Jet, Rs. 25 for Burry wool comb and Rs. 18 for Burry wool cord.

Deliberations were also held on the achievements made by the board during the previous year in registering procurement of wool from far-flung areas.

Speaking on the occasion, Secretary Animal and Sheep Husbandry impressed upon the officials to provide all necessary assistance for the procurement of wool from breeders. He directed the board management to exercise close vigil while procurement of wool so that breeders are fully benefited under the scheme.
