China:No solution yet after fourth round of Sino-US textile talks |

On an extended day of Sino - US textile trade negotiation in Beijing, Thursday, no solution was forthcoming as both sides left the negotiating table.
The US trade team was led by special negotiator Davis Spooner while Chinese team was led by Gao Hucheng, Vice Minister of Commerce, PRC.
While the US side seeks to cap imports of cheap Chinese textiles and clothing that have threatened the very existance of the US manufacturers as claimed by several US apparel and trade bodies that filed investigations into unprecedented surge in the Chinese textile products in the country.
The US Government has already put in place restriction of 7 textile and apparel items and is mulling for more under the trade category.
Much was expected for this meeting as it would pave way for a final summit between Chinese President Hu Jintao and the US President George Bush on September 7, 2005 in Washington.
Meanwhile, in a official joint press release, leading textile trade bodies from the US, AMTAC, NTCO and NTA have welcomed the US stance in the ongoing negotiations and for standing firm on issues of critical importance to domestic manufacturers and their workers.
