Canton Fair: Textile limit, US Enterprises Are on the Hip

It is not easy to find any American businessman in the apparel showroom of the 98th session of the Chinese Export Commodities Fair (Canton Fair for short), which remains 57 years of history, after it held 3 days.       

As we know, almost all American big retailers purchase apparel products in China.  In the Canton Fair, some of them pointed that the limit measure of American government makes American customers not be able to buy lower-price textile products, and also restricts retailers' process of integrated sourcing, 

Vesta Collection Corporation, with 16 years of experience of importing apparels from China, generally imports finished apparels and self-finished apparels from China, and then sells them using their own brand in US market. Sheri Trine, the stuff of Vesta Collection Corporation, argued that such limitation must deprive the way of livelihood of our own American stuffs, because our company is a trading company, and we employs many American stuffs.

Meanwhile, some Chinese manufactures expressed that if the demand of China-made apparels decline, the demand of cotton from Us to China will also decline, which will harms the benefits of the growers in California and Texas.

Mr.Ali Damen, the vice president of Canadian Dragen FX company, said that the style and quality of China-made products have been improved a lot, and China processes advantages of price, manufacturing efficiency and scale benefit.

Cao Xinyu, vice-president of China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Textiles (CCCT), stated that some Chinese companies have established facilities in neighboring countries, such as Mongolia and Central & South American countries, for the sake of avoiding US import limitation, while many US buyers have establish sourcing bases in China with huge investment. But now, US took unilateral wildness measure so that these US buyers have to face the troubles of looking for new sourcing bases in a short period of time.

By the way, in the beginning 2 days of Canton Fair, the falling rate of textile export enterprises' orders reached 80%. In the 4th day, Minister of Commerce urgently held a conference with textile exporters, having an informal discussion about this issue, collecting information from representatives of local enterprises and preparing for next textile management.
