Guangdong promotes trade cooperation with Mexico

China's southern Guangdong province held a business conference in Mexico Tuesday to promote economic and trade cooperation with the Latin American country.

China and Mexico have reached consensus on further developing their strategic partnership and bilateral trade since the September summit between Chinese President Hu Jintao and his Mexican counterpart Vicente Fox, said Huang Huahua, governor of Guangdong province, at the 2005 Guangdong-Mexico Business Conference.

Guangdong, one of China's most economically dynamic regions, will continue to strengthen its cooperation with Mexico in investment, trade and resources exploitation, Huang said.

Mexican Vice Economy Minister Maria Ruiz said the establishmentof strategic partnership and a high-level working group between the two countries have contributed to the development of bilateraltrade and investment.

She hoped the conference would embody the cooperation between Mexican and Chinese enterprises and become a model of bilateral cooperation in all fields.

A number of contracts of intent were signed at the conference.

The Guangdong delegation includes 300 officials and businessmenfrom telecommunications, furniture, home appliances, construction,machinery and textile industries.
