Indian state Andhra Pradesh to introduce five-year textile policy

Andhra Pradesh, the fifth largest state of India, has announced a five-year textile policy to facilitate industry growth.

The state government will provide incentives to all textile-related projects that involve capital of Rs 100 crore or above, or create more than 2,500 positions, according to a release issued by the state information and public relations minister Mohammed Ali Shabbir.

The plan has also put emphasis on protection of textile workers, in which the scope of Andhra Pradesh State Contract Labour Act will be extended to cover workers of the apparel and textile industry.

While the company owners will benefit from subsidy for power and land, their workers will receive subsidy for further training.
