Over 50 yarn and fiber suppliers and over 10,000 visitors joined the debut Yarn Expo Shanghai, which was held alongside Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics from October 26 to 29, 2005.
A wide range of products was showcased at the show including innovative functional fibers and yarns incorporating functions such as anti-bacteria and fire resistance. With increasing global concern about environmental issues and the popularity of eco-friendly textiles, a few exhibitors presented an environmentally friendly range including yarns and fibers made of soybean, bamboo, milk protein and recycled material. Also on show were products composed of minerals like carbon and jade.
According to the organizer, Yarn Expo Shanghai was launched in answer to industry demand for a dedicated marketing platform in Shanghai. The debut show housed 52 suppliers from eight countries including Chinese exhibitors from the nation's key yarn and fiber producing regions: Qinqdao, Zhejiang, Xinjiang.
