India : Industry Squeezed Between Striking Powerloom And Truckers

 Divided as they are, members of the unorganised Rs 30,000 crore garment industry currently find themselves squeezed between the striking powerloom owners on the one hand, and the truck operators on the other. This has hit them to the tune of over Rs 500 crore since the past 11 days.

The proposals, in the 2003-04 Budget, are the main reasons for discontent to the garment makers.
