After it was set up in the presence of Luca Cordero di Montezemolo, President of Confindustria (Confederation of Italian Industry), last June, the new Board of ACIMIT (the Association of Italian Textile Machinery Manufacturers), called by the President Paolo Banfi, was held last November 8th, at the Milan headquarters, for the first operating meeting.
During the meeting, the Board examined and discussed several matters on the Agenda. A final report was prepared on the results of ITMA ASIA, recently held in Singapore, which involved 851 exhibitors, of which 153 were Italian (18% of the total). The number of visitors was also satisfactory and confirmed the importance of Asia in the world scenario. There was also confirmation of the leading role of Italian textile machinery as supplier for this market, in terms of technological proposals, quality, reliability and, above all, services offered. The Asian market, in fact, sees Italian manufacturers as partners not just for the supply of textile machinery, but also for receiving indications and direction for the future development of production.
This, then, was one of the aspects dealt with by the ACIMIT Board. The meeting also involved discussions about commercial strategies, examining the future development of the worldwide Trade Fairs, ITMA and ITMA ASIA, and the arrival of the new Trade Fairs in countries where there is major development, but also overlapping of Trade Fairs for the first time (like in Turkey, China, India and Pakistan). ACIMIT, then, will also manage such matters, typical of sectors subject to considerable growth, in order to optimise the promotional investments of its member companies.
The re-launch of ITMA as a shop window for the presentation of highly innovative machinery, highlighted by the Trade Fair slogan, "the place for innovation", is certainly one of the most important elements to be studied and handled, with particular attention paid to protecting the interests of the Italian companies.
In this context, ACIMIT supports its members companies with their search for new technologies, promoting meetings between the companies, as was carried out recently for machine producers for the production of technical and innovative textiles. Stimulating a spirit of enterprise is definitely one of the tasks which President Banfi has taken on.
As well as these themes, ACIMIT is dedicating itself seriously to supporting its member companies with the internationalisation of their activities. This can be seen by the actions taken by the Association to overcome the difficulties with obtaining visas for entering Italy which customers and technicians of our companies are experiencing and the seminars constantly held at various times for information about the financial and insurance instruments to be used for the sale of machinery abroad.
