Uzbekistan: Jan.-Oct. Cotton Fiber was 921,300 Tons

According to the official statistics from Uzbekistan, from Jan. through Oct., the country’s cotton fiber output reached 921,300 tons, much more than the 753,300 of the same period of 2004. Uzbekistan is the sixth largest cotton manufacturer and second largest cotton exporter. The cotton fiber export income takes account of around one fifth of the total export income.

The raw cotton output in 2005 sees a new record of 3.77 million tons, which the output of 2004 was 3.53 million tons. It’s estimated that the cotton fiber output will increase to 1.25 million tons in 2005/06 from the 1.15 million tons in 2004/05.
