Production began at a new, modernized textile factory in Yangon, on 25th November.
Myanmar Prime Minister, General Soe Win, and Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar Guan Mu, were present at the function along with other ministers and several Chinese experts.
Soe Win said that the Chinese companies were invited to invest in Myanmar as it is superior in terms of capital, while Myanmar has rich natural resources.
The factory is located in Salingyi township in Sagaing division. It was built by the China National Constructional and Agricultural Machinery Import and Export Corporation under a contract signed between the Myanmar Ministry of Industry-1 and the Chinese company in June 2001.
The factory, having capacity of 29,760 spindles and 828 auto shuttle looms, produces 1,705 tons of cotton yarn and 10.37 million meters of cotton fabrics annually.
