Taiwan : Apparel Output Continues Weak in October

Taiwan's apparel sector continues to move offshore, accelerating in 2005, as additional plants close. One of the new destinations has been Kenya, where Taiwanese investment has provided a major boom to the Kenyan apparel sector. In October, Taiwan's apparel production totaled 924,000 dozen items, representing a year-on-year decline of 18.9 percent and the third lowest monthly output on record.

Cumulative January through October apparel production totaled 9.672 million dozen, reflecting a year-on-year decline of 22.8 percent.
