US apparel imports rebounded in November, according to latest data provided by US Department of Commerce. The new jump in imports is partly due to a dramatic surge in shipments from China, up 120% from November 2001.US total apparel imports rose 18.02% in volume terms in November, after increasing 20.32% in September and only 7.75% in October. The substantial rise in September data was the result of September attacks and a delay in deliveries in September 2001 which also affected October results. November data confirm the continued rise in apparel imports in volume terms, reflected by the decline in prices at US stores. Major supplying countries in Asia were apparently not affected by the US quota system, although US limits were often reached before the end of last year.
