China : Jiangsu's cotton imports grew 35.1% in batch

One of the major textile production bases in China, Jiangsu Province imported 901 batches or 276,000 tonnes of cotton between January and October this year, representing a year-on-year growth of 35.1% and 5.9% respectively.

However, it is found that 2.1% of the imported cotton did not meet the required length, fineness or tenacity, for which some US$7.52 million of compensation have been claimed.

The cotton imported to Jiangsu Province was from 26 countries including the US, Australia, Uzbekistan, Mexico, Pakistan, India, and Brazil.
