The textile exports of textile and clothing during July- February 2002-03 was US$ 4.4 billion as compared to US$ 3.7 billion for the same period in 2001-02 thus an increase of 20% said Humayun Akhtar Khan, Minister for Commerce.
He said in fiscal year 2001-02, our total export was US$ 6 billion of which quota exports were 38% mainly destined for European Union (EU), USA, Canada and Turkey.
The bulk of our quota export comprise of apparel and fabrics in which Pakistan has competitive advantage, he added. The Minister said in post quota scenario Pakistan's textile Quota exports will be facing competition from countries like China, Bangladesh, Philippine etc.
