According to union textile minister Shankarsinh Vaghela, textile sector in the country has regained the status of sunrise industry and there will soon be a textile boom in the days to come.
"There was a period when the textile sector was described as sunset industry but it has regained the lost glory and acquired the much needed sunrise status," Waghela said while inaugurating the 61st All India Textile Conference, on Saturday.
He called cotton growers (in Maharashtra particularly) to go in for more yield and improve the quality. On export front, Vaghela said India had a share of 26 per cent to American countries and 20 to European countries which deserve to be enhanced.
Efforts are being made to keep apparel parks and SEZ in the country free from labour laws to allow growth of textile industry, he said.
The textile industry was now looking for good times with bankers willing to fund the proposals, Union Minister of State for Non-conventional Energy Sources Vilas Muttemwar said.
He urged the textile giants to go in for non-conventional energy sources.
