China : Cotton growing area in China will rebound

China's cotton growing area is expected to return to a higher level of more than 80 million acres in 2006 according to an official from China's Ministry of Agriculture.

It is predicted that the cotton growing area will reach 85 million acres in the coming five years, producing 6.5 to 7 million tons of cotton each year.

In 2005, China's cotton growing area reduced by 11 million acres due to unfavorable weather, causing the purchasing price to grow by RMB0.5 to RMB0.6 per catty.
