India to look into dumping of Chinese yarns

The Designated Authority of the Indian Commerce Ministry has accepted the application of an industrial association for an investigation into the dumping of partially oriented yarn (POY) from China.

The application was filed by the Association of Synthetic Fibre Industries, New Delhi and backed by 12 manufacturers including Reliance Industries and Sanghi Polyester.

The period of investigation (POI) for the purpose of the present investigation is April 1 2004 to June 30 2005 (15 months). The injury investigation period will, however, cover the period 2001-02 to 2003-04 and the POI.

POY is yarn of polyester and is an intermediate, which is subject to further processing, for example, texturing or draw twisting, to make it suitable for weaving or knitting into fabrics.
