Austria : Lenzing Fibers with Active Tencel makes 1st appearance at ISPO, Munich |

Cellulose fibre leader Lenzing Fibers announced that the company presented their first appearance at the ISPO in Munich with Active TENCEL- the new product for sports applications.
Well-known manufacturers like Adidas, Löffler and Schiesser TENCEL have already discovered the superior properties of this fiber, such as moisture management and skin-friendliness for their products.
Sportswear so far has been the domain of functional synthetic fibers. TENCEL, the cellulose fiber made of the renewable resource wood offers several improvements: more skin-friendliness, more breathability, more moisture management.
No overheating when practicing sports
The absorption and release of moisture are the basic principles for the regulation of the individual body temperature when performing sports.
The human body clocks up a performance of around 60 Watt when sleeping. A sportsman records more than 1,000 Watt. Excess body heat when doing sports has to be shed by the body to prevent overheating.
This is done by perspiring. And this is precisely where TENCEL enters the game since up to 1.8 liters of liquid are released during peak sporting performances.
The nanofibrils of the TENCEL fiber guarantee optimum moisture transportation and thus excellent temperature regulating properties. Thus TENCEL optimizes the body’s performance and regulates the skin temperature.
Naturally against bacterial growth
Excellent moisture absorption prevents formation of bacteria right from the start: Moisture is instantly transported into the interior of the fiber. Moreover, the smooth fiber surface is particularly gentle to the skin.
Lenzing fibers, made of wood, a renewable raw material, are used by the textile industry - for garments, home textiles and technical textiles - as well as by the nonwovens industry.
