Invisible trade walls impede textile exports

Fresh troubles are knocking doors of textile enterprises from Zhejiang and Guangdong provinces in the form of SA 8000 standards (international standards of social obligations).

These standards are trade barriers in invisible form for Chinese manufacturers to export their products.

Many international organizations insist that textile companies conform thier products quality as per SA8000 standards set by International Labour Organization (ILO).

The basic standards are good working conditions, adequate salary and one holiday a week for all workers.

It is reported that 200 enterprises in Amoy city have not received orders so far, just because they fell short of adopting SA8000 standards.

adidas and Nike, the two sportswear giants, have lodged maximum complaints on this account as they strictly follow labour laws.

Industry insiders state that it is high-time that enterprises adopt Chinese international standards of social obligations.
