Textile Industry Association of China has advised government to take measures to protect the interests of exporters responding to the ongoing US Congressional debate over whether to ban Chinese textiles.
The five types of Chinese textile products under debate are kit-wear, gloves, blouses, gowns and cases of man-made fiber. These products are free from quota limits among members of the World Trade Organization.
In September last year, the US Textile Product Importer's Association proposed to reset limits on textile imports from China and at the beginning of this month the US Department of Commerce finalized its plan to limit Chinese textile imports. If the US Congress approves the proposal into a law, the Chinese textile exports will have to face the deliberation procedure once again.
The China Textile Industry Association said recently that the trade limit means more than a ban on the five textile products as it sets a leg basis for trade friction.
