China : Garment industry faces duplication of sewing machines |

Duplication of sewing machines is the fresh trouble garment industry is facing as it is very easy to copy the appearance and technique of machines for manufacturers of middle and low category.
The unfair practice is popular in Hebei province, where more than 100 units rely on copying machines.
These units buy a new sewing machine, separate all parts, make minor changes, and create new machine; they manufacture machines in large quantity with new labels.
Manufacturers also produce machines according to the design, which is prepared by the authentic manufacturers and stolen by imitators.
Experts pointed out that the issue of Intellectual Property Right needs special attention of authorities as the problem has hampered the development of Chinese sewing machine industry.
