China : Directions for textile technological innovation to look to future

On October 28, 2006, at ‘China textile round table of academician forum’, the former Vice Minister of Textile Ministry and academician of China’s engineering academy, Ji Guobiao, pointed out that pushing forward the independent innovation is the focus of enhancing the competitive ability of China’s textile products in international market, and the key for textile industrial upgrade.

Looking into the future, there are seven important aspects for China’s textile technological innovation.

First, the textile industry could drive the industrial modernization by informatization, and broadly adopt the application of computer and information techniques in textile industry, including production lines and the whole production process, as well as management, logistics, marketing, trading etc.

Second, the industry shall reconstruct the traditional textile industry with high and advanced technology, promoting China’s textile techniques and product quality.

On the other hand, the industry should upgrade equipments and intensify independent construction, meanwhile they must enhance the technological innovation of homemade textile machinery.

The third, the industry should explore textile materials in terms of varieties and quantities, speaking of natural fibers, there are also jute and other fibers on top of cotton, wool and silk.

The fourth, the industry should pay attention to the difference of function development.

The fifth, the industry must protect environment, cut down energy usage and save water resources.

The sixth, the industry should combine technological innovation with cultural fashion brand.

The seventh, the industry should continue to raise the construction of independent engineering projects for synthetic fiber.
